Your emotions control your mind. If you feel overwhelmed, nervous, or overconfident, it will impact your decision. It‘s a common trait among traders. But the good news is there are ways to manage your emotions. In this article, we’ll tell you the methods to control your emotions.
1. Trading plan is a savior: Whether you are a novice or an experienced trader, you need to keep a trading journal or plan. It is an important way to deal with your emotions while trading. It will make you disciplined. It also helps you to look at your strategy, goals, and risk management.
2. Take a Pause for Second: While deciding the next trade. Give it a thought, pause for 5-7 seconds, and calm your mind. Rethink: Is it right for you? Think about your goal. This little pause will surely help you.
3. Avoid trading when you're not in the mood: Stepping away from trading when you feel it is not a good idea, is the simplest method to manage your emotions. Channelize your thoughts and relax your mind. Dont trade at that point of time.
4. Identify emotional triggers: Monitoring your emotional triggers is an excellent approach to regulate your emotions. This self-awareness might help you to pause before making rash decisions.
5. Relax: Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and meditation. It'll help you stay focused and relaxed. Remember what Victor Sperandeo says: “The key to trading success is emotional discipline. If intelligence were the key, there would be a lot more people making money trading.”
