In March 2025, the Malaysian Securities Commission ( SC ) updated the investor warning list. This list is a key resource to protect investors from potential fraud and unauthorized activity in the capital markets.
The list covers a wide range of unauthorized company websites and entities. It includes persons engaged in regulated activities such as securities trading, derivatives, fund management, corporate financial advice, investment advice, financial planning, and private retirement planning without an SC license. The list also includes entities that are not authorized to operate a recognized market, entities that issue or provide securities without proper approval, and individuals or companies that abuse the SC logo and distort the Commission.
In this update, several new entries have been added to the list. These new additions are intended to alert the public to new threats emerging in the field of investment. For example, relevant departments have identified some potential cloned entities, which often imitate legally licensed institutions to deceive investors. These clones operate illegal investment schemes, usually luring people with promises of high returns in a short time. For example, an entity's claim that an initial investment of RM500 would yield a return of RM10,000 in 3-6 hours is an unrealistic and dubious proposition.
The SFC regularly updates this list to keep up with changing fraud activities. It is strongly recommended that the public consult this list before making any investment decisions. If you want to view the past alarm information, you can search the WikiFX search interface for articles ' SC releases Investor Alert List ( as at 10 / 2 / 2025 ) ' and ' SC releases 2025 CSRC investor alert list ' ( https://www.sc.com.my/investor-alert-list and https://www.sc.com.my/investor-alert-list) ).
In addition, if any suspicious capital market activity is found, we encourage them to alert the SFC. By staying vigilant and using the resources provided by the CSRC, investors can better protect their hard-earned money and avoid becoming victims of investment scams.
