Abstract:SFC alert List in 2025, sfc unauthorized platforms and websites
The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has released a new alert list for March 2025, which includes suspicious virtual asset trading platforms, suspicious investment products, and suspicious websites.
Recently, the virtual asset sector has experienced explosive growth, attracting both legitimate investors and scammers. These unregulated virtual asset trading platforms typically promise high-return trades with minimal risk. Users' digital assets may be at risk of being stolen, and the platforms may manipulate trading data to deceive investors. For example, in 2023, HOUNAX was included in the SFC's list of suspected entities. It was a virtual investment scam, and such platforms can cause significant financial losses to unsuspecting investors.
Suspicious investment products are not as good as the suddenly promoted investment products that seem too good to be true. These products usually have hidden fees and risks that are not disclosed to investors.
In addition, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has also identified a large number of suspicious websites. These suspicious websites often use tempting investment projects, such as wealth management products with annualized returns far exceeding the normal market level, virtual currency investment projects, etc., as baits to lure investors to participate on a large scale. Once investors transfer money to the designated account, the website will be quickly shut down, and the criminals behind the scenes will abscond with the funds.
