The Avenue, Sydney, South Australia, Australia
Inspection Reason
Recently, many investors made telephone calls to the inspection team, expressing their hope for the inspection team to expose more Australia licensed brokers whose actual addresses are inconsistent with that recorded by the regulatory authority. In response to those investors’ request, the inspection personnel decided to pay a visit to the Australia licensed broker Smart Markets to know what happened.
Office Building
According to the regulatory register, the Australia licensed broker Smart Markets is located at Tower 3' Level 25, 300 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo NSW 2000. The inspection personnel went to the place.
With the help of map navigation, the inspection personnel easily found the landmark building adjacent to the Darling Harbour. Conveniently situated, this building is also the home to many world famous financial institutions.
The inspection staff entered the lobby through the revolving door, and learned from the floor guide that the floor referred to in the regulatory register is occupied by Victory Shared Office. Given the numerous company names on the floor guide and the number of people passing by the place, it may be a safe guess that many top white collars work here.
Featured Photos
To know for sure whether Smart Markets works in the shared office, the inspection staff went to Level 25 by elevator, and then confirmed the whole floor is occupied by the shared office. The inspection staff talked with the receptionist at the shared office and found that Smart Markets has no office here.
Conclusion
It is confirmed after the inspection staff’s field survey that the real address of Smart Markets’s office in Australia is inconsistent with that recorded by the regulatory authority. The broker’s full license (RN: 439907) issued by ASIC is suspected of being cloned.
